Goyard's first origins come back to the old brand House of Martin, founded in 1792 by Pierre-François Martin. The original products were not the leather goods seen today, but are mostly related to clothing folding, packaging and furniture, and fine art packaging. At the time, Maison Martin sold a variety of boxes; provided high-quality packaging services for fragile furniture, items, hats, dresses and flowers, using oil-based canvas, plain canvas and straw packaging, and tarpaulin waterproof canvas, so the price is very reasonable. When Martin married his guardian, Pauline, to his employee, Louis-Henri Morel, he also gave his business as a dowry. In 1845 Morel hired François Goyard as an apprentice, the young apprentice thrives under the direction of Morel, when Morel died in 1852, François Goyard officially took over the company and changed its name to today's world-famous La Maison Goyard.
