Kaws (stylized as KAWS) Brian Donnelly is an American artist and designer born on November 4, 1974. The series of figurative characters and patterns used repeatedly in his works can be traced back to the beginning of his career in the 1990s: Some characters are his creations, while others are redesigned versions of existing icons. Kaws’ cross-market appeal and ability to blur the line between business and fine art are compared to those of Andy Warhol et al. His works are exhibited in galleries and museums, also permanently collected by public institutions. Music producer Swizz Beatz, Internet character PewDiePie, rapper Pharrell Williams and members of the Korean group BTS are all collectors of his works. Kaws now lives and works in Brooklyn, New York, designing limited edition toys, clothing, skateboard decks and other products in collaboration with joint businesses.
